About three weeks ago we were on our way to Black Pine Animal Park and we saw this doll house looking thing at a garage sale. We stopped to check it out and it looked like it was stuck in the 70's. The lady told us that her husband made it from an old photo cabinet for their daughter who was there and she looked to be in her 30's. So they have had it a long time. They had a "make offer" price tag on it so Mitchell asked what they considered an offer because everything there was really old and very over priced. The lady said five dollars, to our amazement; it was a really good deal because when we saw it we both had grand visions for it. Well, the girls were so happy even with it looking the way it did. We had to tell the girls that Mommy and Daddy were going to fix it up real pretty and they could play with it then. We worked on it a bit at a time, we had no idea it would take as long as it did, but man oh man, it is a true beauty and the girls are so proud of us for what we did to their dream house ( that's what they said). We ripped out all the old shag carpeting and all the wall paper in every room. We didn't have to put too much money in it because we used leftover stuff from our house. We put in wood floors in all the rooms and painted every room to the girls request. Of course, Mackenzee picked pink and Maddison really did want purple as long as one of the rooms was blue. The only thing we really had to buy was the doll furniture and believe it or not we got it at Shipshewana. We put in most of the time painting all the furniture to match the rooms. We now know that if it took this much hard work and time to do a doll house that we probably shouldn't quit our day jobs any time soon and become full time house flippers!
